A Community Like No Other
Behind every number is a neighbor, a friend, a local hero—and it’s all thanks to the heart of this community. Whether it’s a volunteer spending a few hours helping a child, a donor making sure a senior doesn’t go hungry, or a supporter simply spreading the word, our community shows up with kindness, generosity, and unwavering support. It’s this spirit that turns challenges into triumphs and makes real, lasting change possible every single day.

Building Brighter Futures
Boldly Building Community Together
The need is growing—fast.
Every day, more families, seniors, and individuals turn to CAPTAIN Community Human Services for help. Since 2016, demand for our programs has surged 35%, pushing us beyond capacity.
Our community is changing rapidly. By 2030, the Capital Region’s population will hit 800,000—with 1 in 3 households already struggling. Seniors now outnumber school-age children, and poverty among both children and older adults is rising.
The truth is clear: Our systems must evolve to meet these growing and complex challenges.
That’s why CAPTAIN CHS is launching a bold capital campaign to transform how we serve—expanding reach, reimagining programs, and building resilience for the future.
This isn’t just a campaign. It’s a movement. A chance to build a stronger, more connected Capital Region—together.
Join us. Because the future can’t wait.

After my husband passed, I tried to stay strong. But after breaking my hip, everything spiraled. My son helped briefly, but he lives in California, and I was too embarrassed to ask others for help. Then my neighbor told me about Care Links. That’s when I met Mark and Audrey—thanks to them, I got the support I didn’t even know I needed. I honestly don’t know where I’d be without them.

Last year was incredibly hard. My husband got sick, I lost my job to care for him, and we had no savings—I even had to sell my car. Getting to services took nearly three hours by bus, so every ride was a blessing. Finding CAPTAIN made all the difference. Their weekly support and amazing volunteers helped us get through. I don’t know where we’d be without them.
