Donation FAQ

  • When and where can I drop off my donations?

You can drop off your donations to CAPTAIN's Treasures during the following hours:

    • Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 3:00pm
    • Saturday 10:00am - 2:00pm

Donations can be dropped off at the rear of the building. You'll see a door labeled with CAPTAIN CHS's logo and additional information.

Please note we do not accept donations on Sundays.

It's strongly encouraged that you call 518-383-1788 prior to dropping off donations. Due to space constraints and our generous community, at times we're unable to accept additional goods until we've sorted through current donations.

  • Clothing Donations

We gladly accept clothing that is in style, clean, and odor-free. It's extremely helpful to our volunteers if clothing is clean and folded at drop-off. Shoes, belts, and purses must be in very good condition. Winter coats and wool sweaters are accepted year-round, except during the summer months (May-August).

  • Household Item Donations

We gladly accept dishes, cookware, bake ware, glassware, eating and cooking utensils and collectibles that are clean and free of chips, cracks, and dents. Small appliances are accepted if they are clean and in excellent working condition. Linens and bedding should be washed, odor, and stain-free.

  • Children's Items Donations

We gladly accept clean and stain-free clothing, linens, and children's books in good condition.

  • Furniture Donations

Please call 518-383-1788 prior to dropping off any furniture or large donations. The store has limited space and limited ability to manage heavy items. You can email photos to joann@captaincares.org to review. Any accepted furniture must be in "move-in" condition, meaning it cannot be soiled, broken, moldy, severely scratched, covered with pet hair, or smelling of smoke. We are unable to pick-up or deliver furniture and we generally do not have volunteers or staff who are able to assist you in unloading.

  • Other Donations

Books and artwork will be accepted on an as-needed basis. Due to space constraints, we may be unable to accept your donation. Please call 518-383-1788 in advance of heading out to be sure.
