Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is an IRS service that offers free tax help to income-qualified individuals and households, persons with disabilities, and limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. We serve all counties in the Capital area.

CAPTAIN’s VITA program is in its 21st year of operation. IRS-certified volunteers give many hours to this program, completing tax returns for over 500 households each year.

If your income is under $60,000 you may qualify for this free service.
