Building Brighter Futures: Saratoga Casino Foundation Provides Support for Getting Ahead

CAPTAIN Community Human Services has been chosen as a grant recipient from the Saratoga Casino Hotel Foundation in support of the Getting Ahead Program.

“Our Getting Ahead Program is at the core of our mission of lifting people up and building brighter futures,” said Executive Director Sue Catroppa. “The program is about giving a hand up, not a hand out, and works with clients to identify personal and community resources, to better budget for their future, and to seek opportunities to improve their situations.”

The 16-week Getting Ahead workshop provides individuals in situational or generational poverty with the tools and resources necessary to lift themselves up. With a focus on long-term, sustainable success, this program helps individuals build toward a more prosperous life for themselves, their families, and their communities. CAPTAIN CHS’ Getting Ahead program was started in the fall of 2014. One class is currently running weekly in the Clifton Park office. Another class is planned for sometime later this year, or early 2020.
